Joy on Highway 49 - Show Us Your Stuff

The December challenge over at Show Us Your Stuff is to use the word 'Joy' in a layout.

Rather than going for a Christmas theme I thought I would use the theme in connection with a photo of my grandson who loves my next door neighbours motorbike.

As the layout was motorbike related I decided to go with a distress, grungy, dirty sort of theme as you will see.

Here as some close up photos:
I used the metal plate several times across the layout as I love it!
I rubbed my inky fingers on the layout to add smudges.
 I love using masks
I also used ephemera on the layout

I used the following on the layout:
AC Thickers - Cinnamon - Silver
AC Thickers - Giggles - Blue and White
Ranger Archival Ink - Jet Black
Creative Expressions - That Special Touch Mask - Chicken Wire
Bazzill Bling - Orange 12 x 12 cardstock
Visible Image - Metal Plate stamp
Tando Creative - Grab bag - Stars
Paper Artsy - Squiggly Ink - Swirls & Curls 3
Cosmo Cricket - Cogsmo - Black Chipboard
MAMBI - Sheets - Pad 229
White Gesso
Tyre track ribbon
Ephemera
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope you enjoyed looking at my layout.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

I would love it if you would like to do one or more of the following

Generations - Creative Scrappers #257

Generations

This is the latest sketcth from Creative Scrappers and this is what I made of it.  I am normally a 'messy scrapper' and by this I mean I don't go for 'clean and simple' pages as a norm.  I thought I would challenge myself to do a 'clean and simple' page for a change.
I really love my layout as it is a bit different to what I normally put together.

The photo shows 3 generations of my family: myself, my son and my grandson.

I used the following to put this layout together:

Simple Stories Say Cheese - Magic
AC Thickers - Amy Tangerine - Hello - Brown
Tando Grab Bag - Stars
Sassafras Lass scraps
Buttons
Core'dination embossed spots
Tape - Check/Gingham
Distress Ink - Worn Lipstick.

Lynn

Hat Hilarity

I havent done much scrapbooking in the last 6 months or so, but I am back at it now.  As every my grandson is my favourite subject and I have a backlog of photos waiting to be scrapped.

I put this layout together using Sketchabilites sketch #104 below and Clear it Out challenge.

As you can see I rotated the sketch to left and used elements from the sketch such as the banner and creating my own background.

Here is what I made of it.

I used the following to put the layout together:

Bazzill Basics Cardstock
Scraps of Sassafras Lass paper
AC Thickers Alphas - Delight Red
AC Thickers Alphas - Niki Riki Yellow glitter
Maya Road Mixed Triangle Banner
Glitz Designs - Purple Camo paper
Imaginisce - Snag 'Em stamp - Seed Packet
Prima - Artists stencils
Modelling Paste
Distress Inks - Worn Lipstick
                       Tea Dye
                       Brushed Corduroy
                       Faded Jeans

I hope you like it.

Photographic Friendship - Scrap it with a Song DT Pop Gals

It's February and they're in the mood for love over at Scrap It With a Song. They've got a whole month of romantic tunes to add to the playlist and spark some creativity in your scrapbook.

This weeks song is Prince's - Purple Rain

Here is what I a made of it!
I have to admit I struggled with the song this week.  I found it hard to find lyrics that I could use.
I eventually decided to use the word 'Friendship' as used various photos of my gorgeous grandson which have been waiting to be scrapped and called it 'Photographic Friendship'.

I decided to go with a small lettered title as I generally use large alphas for my title

Close Ups

My grandson has had a relationship from the camera from the day he was born, mainly thanks to myself being 'enamoured' with him.  I have a whole host of photographs of him waiting to scrap because I cannot help taking snaps of him.

I also used a colour challenge for Color Stories Inspiration no: #60 - see details below
I used the following:
Evidence: Big Flower, Hearts, Layers, Add Icing (sparkly brad & sparkly houndstooth paper)
Testimony: Add hearts to your journaling spot

Products used:

Echo Park - For the Record 2
Patterned Paper - Lazy Daisy
Patterned Paper - Notions
Element Stickers - Journaling Spo/Take Lots of Photos/You are Special to Me
Alpha Stickers  - Flower Tag/Orange and White mini alphas

My Minds Eye - Laundry Line - Natural Strength Houndstooth Paper
Imaginisce - Out on a Whim - Steel Magnolias Metal Flower
Dovecraft - Small Heart Punch
Impress - Dye Inkpad - Chocolate
Sugarloaf/Whispers Pen - Brown
Dulux Colour Card
American Crafts - Chipboard Arrow
Prima Heart Stamp
Making Memories Green Sparkly Brad
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope you enjoyed looking at my layout.

Christmas Cheer - Colour Stories Inspiration #56

This is the second layout I have done for Colour Stories Inspiration #56

Inspiration

It's funny when inspiration strikes you, normally when you arent looking for it.

I just thought I'd share this with you.

We were watching TV, I am pretty sure it was the alibi channel and the adverts came in followed by programne promos.

Then this image come up and I got my husband to pause it to take a photo of it.
As soon as I saw it I thought that would be cool to use on a layout.

So I am going to use this idea soon and I will upload the result....so stay tuned.

Bye for now

Wings

This week I decided to combine 5 challenges to see what fun I could have.

Inspiration has come from various sources for this layout - one of which is the sketch below from Creative Scrappers - Sketch #244
I also used the following challenge blogs and their fun ideas within my layout.

Your challenge is to create about YOU and the things you love about you.
On my tag I have added things that give me wings - Husband, Son, Grandson, Scrapbooking, Photography and generally being creative.

Show us your houndstooth!  Shown behind photo and pleated underneath too.
Clear it Out Challenge Blog - Theme: Circles         Stash: Anything Goes
(using this layout as a submission for their deisgn team)  I have used Core'dinations Core Impressions - Dots.  I also used a Martha Stewart border punch to punch lots of cirle in it.  I added some of the confetti from this to use elsewhere on the page.

The use of chalk or the addition of wings on your entry.  I used Tim Holts grungeboard wings to my back and rubbed some Luster rub on in Amber to it.
This is the layout I created
And a focus on some of the details
I used some of the confetti left from punching the Core'dinations cardstock elsewhere on the layout
I used Cosmic Shimmer to mist and colour the leaves and flower.
To alter the American Craft Thickers I used a green Sharpie pen to add dots.

Facinator for Ladies Day - Newcastle Races

Hi there

I thought I would share with you the facinator I made for Ladies Day at Newcastle Races.

I saw an article in Scrap 365 magazine which showed a facinator made with mainly card/paper.
I was inspired to make my own facinator and loved the idea that my facinator would be unique.  I was up for the challenge.

I decided to make a facinator attached to a headband (as I am not that keen on on those comb thingys) plus I basically thought it might be easier.

The photo below is the 1st stage in process
Stage 1
I bought several bits and peices - feather pearls on wire etc and bound them together using ribbon with double sided sticky tape to.

 Now Stage 2
When I had my dress taken up (as I am a mere 5ft) there was spare material over so I decided to cut strips of the material and wrapped these around the hairband.

This is it finished and below is a picture of my friend and I at Ladies Day.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.
