Birthday Card

Birthday card for daughter in law

I made this card for my daughter in laws birthday.  With the exception of the bling which is by Hobby House purchased from Papercuts - Whitley Bay, it was all put together using the The Overstuffed Card Making Kit which I got from QVC.

My daughter in law loves purple so I made sure there was some on the card or at least a touch of lilac!

I don't really make many cards as I prefer scrapbooking, but this was a quick and easy make as all the elements matched up with it being a kit.

Hope you like it.

Feeling Groovy

It's time for a new challenge over at Scrap it with a Song.

This weeks song is from Simon and Garfunkel - 59th Bridge Street Song (Feeling Groovy)

Last year I had a absolutley brilliant time on Ladies Day at Newcastle Racecourse with 3 good friends.  We were lucky enough to enjoy amazing weather on the day and everyone was dressed up and having fun.  When I saw the challenge come up for the design team I knew exactly which photograph I was going to use.

I recently got some Graphic 45 Papers from Papercuts - Whitley Bay, and knew they would be ideal for this layout.  I really like how I used the paper (of course I am biased!)

I also used a sketch from Creative Scrappers  #203 to help put this layout together, check out their sketches by clicking on the link.

I put the layout together the layout using the following items:

Graphic 45 Paper Stack - Tropical Travelogue
Sassafras Lass Paper - Starters - Intro
Buttons
American Crafts Thickers in:  Jewelery Box - Silver Metallic (Feeling)
                                                  Rainboots - Black (Groovy)
Giggles -  White (@) coloured blue with distress ink

Glitz Design Teeny Alphas - Bubble Gum Pink
Pink Paislee - Junque - House of 3 Paper
Hobby House - Border Flourish & Key Embellishment
Papermania Cardstock
Tim Holtz - Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick & Faded Jeans
Sugarloaf Whispers Stokes Pen - Black
Paper flowers
Craftwork Cards - Card Candy
Photo anchors/brads
Paperchase - Butterfly
Lace Border

I hope you enjoyed my layout.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog/blogpost.

Cutie

I am currently working my way through all the layouts I put together before I started blogging and trying to get them on my blog.  So here I go with this one.

This layout is of my son aged about 1 year old at Benton Park in Newcastle.  I wanted the layout to be 'cutsey' and fun so decided to use Bam Pop paper.  Their papers stand out from the rest and I love them so much I find it hard to use them.

On the photo below you can see the title card pulls out to reveal a journaling.

I used the following products for this layout:

Papermania alphas
Bam Pop papers
Range Liquid Pears - Light Blue
Microbeads - Pink
Bazill Basics shaped paper
Transparnacy - unknown brand
Bling - unknown brand
K and Co Paper

Hope you like it.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

High Cup Nick - Colour Stories Inspiration/Page Maps

I used an old sketch from Page Maps that I had printed out and used before.

I also used the following inspiration from Colour Stories Inspiration

I am steadily trying to scrap photographs that are not of my grandson or son.  They are fantastic subjects of course but I just seem to find myself doing another 'boy layout'.

I enjoyed doing this layout as I challenged myself to use more pink than I generally would even on 'girl' layouts.

I used:

Sassafras Lass - Hog Heaven - Fun Filled Forest - Paper and Border
Sassafras Lass Paper – Secretly Smitten – Dainty Sketch
Ink it Up - Ink Pad - Brown
Brown Card
Journaling Stamp - Brand Unknown
Stabilo Black Rollerbal Pen
Do Crafts - Boofle - 5 x 7 Urban stamps
Ranger Glossy Accents
Cosmic Shimmer - Antique Brown (I think)

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

Slide

Above is the layout I put together using the colour palette (#105) and sketch from The Colour Room.

This as you can see is a close up of the title.  I have shown this as I have used American Crafts alphas which I have altered using American Crafts rub-ons which helps them fit in with the overall colour scheme.  This is so quick and easy to do and with so many rub-ons on the market the possabilities are endless.

Colour Room Sketch #105 and Palette.

I enjoy putting all my layouts together but I thoroughly enjoyed doing this one.  I don't know if it was the colours, the small photos or the sketch, but I just loved it and it look so fresh and fun.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I used the following products to put my layout together.

Bazzill Basics Shaped Paper - Lemon

Best Creations Inc – Basic Glitter Paper – BGP217 - Blue

Best Creations Inc – Basic Glitter Paper – BGP 223 – Brown

Sassafras Lass Paper – Secretly Smitten – Dainty Sketch

Sassafras Lass Paper – Serendipity – Hog Heaven – Lots O’ Luck

Making Memories Just Chillin Girl Clear Stamp Set (Small Circle/Star Stamp)

American Crafts - MiniMarks Baby Boy – Book Boy (Book One) (to alter alphas)

Scrapbook Magazine free paper – Bumbleberry Cottage

Sassafras Lass – Felties – Perchers – Owl

Ink it Up Stamp Pad – Brown

Staples – Blue

Cosmic Shimmer Mist – Ancient Copper

Melissa Leaving Card

I made this card for another person (Melissa) in my team who is leaving (they are dropping like flies at the moment, lol)

Melissa is a real 'girly girl', so I decided to a Tilda paper stack I have.   As you can see it is all pinks and flowery.  Melissa also likes bling so I added some sparkly star gems and glittery brads - both from Papermania.

I used:

Tilda Papercraft Paper Stack Lelassie
Papermania Brads - Glittered
Papermania - Adhesive Gems - Stars
Ink it Up Pad - Green
Dovecraft Tea Party - Paper Lace Doilies

Hope you like my card.

Here Comes the Sun

Spring is in the air at Scrap It With a Song and they have a month of songs to put a little spring in your step! Their first song is "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles:
Here is the layout using the song as inspiration
The photo is of my husband, who after being aksed to hold my sunglasses while I took a few photographs decided to put them on.  I couldn't resist taking this photo and thought the photo was ideal for this song challenge.

We had walked up Penshaw Monument prior to visiting Herrington Park (which is were the photo was taken).  We got a lovely view of it from the monument and decided to take a vist.

After to looking at the sketch I decided that this would be an ideal opportunity to use bits and pieces from my scrap tub (any papers I have previously cut into) and used a variety of alphas for the title.

As I used such a mix and abundance of patterned paper I decided to use only the sun embellishments to finish the layout.

I also used a sketch and colour challenge from The Colour Room #104

I used the following products for this layout:

Jenni Bowlin - Turquoise Label (PP244) Background cardstock
Sassafras Lass - Anthem - Dream Big Paper
Best Creations - Basic Glitter Paper (BGP217)
Bo Bunny - Sun Kissed Party Paper
Papermania - Double Sided Paper - Dots (PMA41605)
Pink Paislee - Daily Junque - House of 3
Random scraps from my box (which I don't know the name of)
MME Stella Rose - Gertie - Friends Forever Paper
American Crafts - Foam Alphas - Giggles - Blue
American Crafts - Foam Alphas - Giggles - White (but coloured yellow)
American Crafts - Foam Shapes - Sun - Yellow & Orange
Glitz Teeny Alpha - Burnt Orange (TA2730)
Glitz Teeny Alpha - Bubble Gum Pink (TA2761)

I hope you enjoy my layout.

Remember a day without scrapbooking is like a day without sunshine!

Jonny's Leaving Card

This is a card I made for a colleague who had now left and this was to say goodbye.

The idea behind the card was to make it bright and fun and to represent why he was leaving us.

He will be moving to San Diego in the not to distant future, which is why I included a map with an arrow pointing at San Diego as well as the sun and the palm tree.

I used:

First Edition Cardstock - Up, up and Away (background paper)
First Edition Cardstock - Up, up and Away (cutoutables)
Google Map Print
American Craft Foam embellies

He was well pleased with his card and I really enjoyed making it!

Bryan's Happy 50th Birthday Card

This is the card I made for a colleague at work for his 50th Birthday.  He is mad on Harley motorbikes and guitars so I used these two things as inspiration for the card.

I found an image on google for the motorbike and also found a piece of guitar music for the song happy birthday.

I used the following products:

Tim Holtz - Paper Stash - Lost and Found (Licence Plates)
American Crafts - Alphas - Light Blue (darkened with dark blue Sharpie pen)
Sharpie - Dark Blue
Ink it Up - Ink Pad
Ranger Archival Ink - Black
Glitter numbers - £1 Shop
Peel Offs - Alphas small - coloured using Sharpie
Card base - Scallop cardstock.

Bryan loved his card and is still talking about it - bless!

Hope you like my card.

Mini Books - Lois & Kristina

Lois's Mini Book

I made these mini books for two girls at work who happened to turn 21 years old on the same day.  (Awkward so & sos)  I had quite a good time making them and tried to make them different to reflect their different personalities.
I enjoyed working out where to put the different photos, paper and embellishments.  It was also different for me working on a small area as I usually scrapbook 12x12 layouts.

I tried to use different stamps, flowers and bling to make each page a little different from the rest.

 Kristina's Mini Book
I found Kristina's mini book a bit challenging as I have used a 'see through' medium before in this way.
Because I had not left myself as much time as I should I found it quite frustrating having to work out where to place papers and embellishments so that it showed nicely on the reverse side as well as the side I was working on.
For both albums I sneakily got the recipients to looks at papers I was thinking of using - using a 'ruse' that it was for a present/card I was making for my niece of the same age.

I presented them both with their presents and I am pleased to say they were both 'chuffed to bits' and very grateful that I had taken the time to make them something.

A lesson learnt I think is that if I was to put together another mini book using acrylic I would plan it ahead of time.
