Watch the Snow - Scrap it with a Song

Christmas is coming and we are scrapping the songs over at Scrap it with a Song

The weeks 'Pop Gals' challenge was to use the song -
“Step into Christmas” by Elton John

I used this photograph from last Christmas.  You cannot see in the photograph but he is in one of those child carrriers that you put on your back - so he had a good vantage point.

I love this photo as you can see some snowflakes on his eyelashes.

Hope you all have a super Christmas and New Year

All the best

Langdale Pod

Langdale Pod

I created the following layout to take part in challenges with Colour Stories Inspiration, Creative Scrappers and Punky Scraps.

I used sketch #236 from Creative Scrappers
to kickstart my inspiration.
I also used this colour challenge from Colour Stories Inspiration

For Evidence I used: Patchwork Pattern (stamp pattern to right of photo)
Frame (Felt brackets around husbands face)

For Testimony I used: Write an add for your home (in this case a camping pod rented for the weekend)

My journaling reads:
Cosy 1 room abode, perfect for the camper looking for more of a 'feel of home'.  Doors open onto your own patio area, which leads out onto a meadow (or a lake) depending on the weather. Furry neighbours are a welcome addition at dinner time!!

Challenge #57 at Punky Scraps also looked fun, so I decided to take part in the too!

The challenge was to use all of the following:
1. make a layout using only stamps NO PP       2. cardboard
3. staples                                                          4. flowers
5 different alphas                                              6. black and white photo

I used the following products to put the layout together:

Bazzill Basics Paper in Salt
Cardboard
Acrylic paint
American Crafts felt brackets & chipboard arrow
Colour shades taken from a Dulux strip
Tim Holtz distress inks in Worn Lipstick and Faded Jeans
American Crafts Thickers (various)
Hampton Art - Ditto Label Clear Stamps
Smoochie Manoochie Clear Stamps (Flower) SMSDS1
Crayons
Ink it up stamp pad - light blue
Journalling spot clear stamp - unsure of make
Staples
MME Paper - Lost and Found 2 - Blush(small photo is matted onto this)
------------------------------------

I hope you enjoyed looking at my layout.

Railway Station - Scrap it with a Song

It's a Family theme for the Pop Gals over at Scrap it with a Song - This weeks song is Homeward Bound by Simon & Garfunkel

I used the lyrics 'I'm sittin' in the Railway Station' and changed them to We're Sitting in the Railway Station.
The photos were taken in Newcastle Central Station, UK which was the starting place of our trip to Scotland.  We arrived in Fort William and then walked the 'Great Glen Way' which is 73 miles along the Caledonian Canal to Inverness. We stayed at hostels and a B&B along the way and treated ourselves to a few days in a hotel in Inverness at the finish.

I used a free kit from Shabby Princess called Plentiful.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my layout.

Like a Diamond - Scrap it with a Song

There is a Spooky theme over at Scrap it with a Song.

We are kicking off with the Pop Girls scrapping  Kelly Clarkson's - Darkness

Here is what I created

This is my grandson in a coffee shop in Newcastle, North East of England

I used the lyrics: 'Like a diamond'  from the song to represent my grandson, as he is precious to me.

I used a free kit from Emma Stafrace which can be found at the following link: here

My Altered Flossys

Hi there

I saw an idea for altering Toms on the following website (Pearmama) and thought I would have a go.  Instead of using Toms though I used Flossys.

The 1st shows how I have done a rough design with a watercolour pencil.

In this second picture I have went over the design with a black fabric marker.
I am quite pleased with the finished effect, not bad for a 1st go.  I would like to do another pair but spend a little more time thinking out the design and drawing it.

Scrap it with a Song - On the Road - Digital Layout

In the spirit of this "Back to School" season, Scrap it with a Song have a set of education-themed songs for this month's playlist, First up we have "Teach Your Children" by Crosby Stills Nash and Young.

I love this photo of my son, he look so chilled and relaxed while we were taking a driving break on a trip.

I have created digital layouts before but this is the first time I have submitted for a design team challenge.  I used free scrapbook mega kit “The Wheels on the bus” from Scraps-N-Pieces
http://www.scraps-n-pieces.com/store/

I wanted to use busy papers but keep it simple so you focus on the photograph.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

Digital Creations - My First Attempts

Hi there

I have never been interesting in digi-scrapbooking much as I normally prefer to play with 'bits of paper', but my mother has really gotten into it... and never stops showing me all the different things you can do so I have been giving it a bit of bash.

Below are my first several attempts at digi-scrapping - I have shown them in the order that I created them.  I hope I am showing some development.

Strolling Along.....
Layout about my father and my grandson as they walk along hand in hand - so relaxed - Photos taken at Druridge Bay Country Park

Summer fun...with grandma

 My Little Sweetie/Specs Appeal
Photo taken at my home after my grandson had pinched my glasses off me

Walking Up Binsey
Photo of my husband and myself walking up Binsey Fell (a Wainwright) in the Lake District.

Let's Drink to Magic Mike
Photo taken at Pizza Hut to celebrate my friend Charlotte's 19th Birthday before we went to drool over Channing Tatum in the film 'Magic Mike'

Nana
Simple layout about my Nana - photo was taken in Shefield

Cute & Contemplative
Photo of my grandson taken at Hadrian Road Metro Station in Wallsend while we were waiting for a metro train.

Best Boy in the World
Photo taken at my home and used a free filter over the top - Yes he is normally this smiley

and finally....

Ladies Day @ Newcastle Racecourse
Photo of my friend Julie and myself at Newcastle Racecourse for Ladies - enjoying a wee drinkie and few wagers.

Wedding Card

This a wedding card I made on behalf of a friend.  I used a fold-out card base from Papercuts Whitley Bay which is my local craft shop and who I am on the design team for.

I used paper from the MME range called -  Quite Contrary - Happy birthday for the background then found an image on Graphics Fairy which is the heart frame and printed the wedding specifics in the middle of this.  I then added keys from Hobby House to the bottom of this and under this I used a Tea Party paper doiley from Papermania.
I attached 'Love' riboon on both sides of the card to unify them and used another image from Graphics Fairy for the happy couple.  To cover the bare ends of the card I used heart transparancy and a felt and fabric flower.
I decorated the outside of the card using Hobby House hearts and swirls bling and MME banner alphas.
I also decorated a plan white bag from Papermania by simply stamping on it and tying on pieces of ribbon.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

When I Wake Up - Scrap it with Song

This month's theme over at Scrap it with a Song is Road Trips

~This weeks song is '500 Miles by The Proclaimers'~

I chose to use the lyrics 'When I Wake Up' from the song for my title

When I saw the lyrics to the song and saw 'When I Wake Up' I immediately thought of this photograph.  I had recently bought the MME patterned paper with the train on (and my grandson 'loves' trains) so I had to use it!

I used 5 tags to list 5 things different things will want to do 'when he wakes up'.  I wrote them from his viewpoint.

1. Play with my trains (especially James, Percy, Thomas, Toby & Diesel)
2. Drive my buses up grandads arm, on the chairs and on the floor
3. Stop walking or go really slow so my nana will say 'One, two, three, Go! to get me
to run - this is fun!
4. Play out in the garden and do weeding for Grandad - I am such a big help.
5. Put my arms around my nana's neck, rock her side to side and say 'ahhh nana'

I have the list of 'ingredients' I used for the layout but I have misplaced it - I will add this A.S.A.P.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

Go Your Own Way - Scrap it with a Song

It's another week for the Pop Gals over at Scrap it with a Song
This weeks inspiration is Fleetwood Macs - Go Your Own Way

I decided to use the title of the song as my layout title as I felt they connected more with the photo of layout than any of the others.  This is the layout I produced.

The photos are of my grandson playing with his bubble gun at Stewart Park in Middlesborough, UK.  He was doing his own thing and going his own way (as usual) and having a real good time.

None of the individual photos were particularly fantastic on their own but as a collage I think they really tell a fun story.  I used the free software from Picassa to put the collage together.

I wanted to use anything circular to tie in with the bubble theme of the photo and used punches, card candy and wooden die cuts.

This is what I used to put the layout together:

American Crafts - Thickers - Giggles - Foam Alphas - Brown
American Crafts - Thickers - Cream Soda - Green
Bella Blvd Paper - All Inclusive
Sassafras Lass - Bungle Jungle
Wooden die cut circles
Buttons - Hand and Wooden Heart
Core'dinations pre embossed cardstock
Card Candi - Safari - Giraffe
Card Candi - Dark Brown
Ranger Dylusion stamps - Background Love - Swirls
Tim Holtz - Distress Ink - Brushed Corduroy

Get Well Soon - Charlotte

A quick make for my friend who managed to damage the ligaments in her leg whilst leaving work during a fire alarm.  I quickly threw this together - which is unusual for me as I can sometimes take me a while to put a card together.

I created the background using a Fiskars roller stamp and added ribbon across the length and width of the card and them popped a Hobby House Kenny K die cut topper and added the greeting and her name with Studio G stamps.

I finally added a wooden flower sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer mist and added a bit of bling on the flower and the corners of the die cut topper.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

Scrap it with a Song - We are Young

Today is another Scrap it with a Song Reveal - This week its 'We are Young' by Fun.

Here is what I cam up with:

I knew I was going to use this photo for the challenge as soon as I took it.  I think it's a lovely photo and they are both really smiley for the camera.

Jacob (my grandson) and I were visiting Sophie & Theo at the new house and I took this quick snap as they were watching Fireman Sam (always a big favourite with 3 year olds)

This is what I used to put the layout together:

Patterned Paper – Daisy Bucket – My Little Monsters – Hold my Hand
American Crafts - Red Letterman Alphas
American Crafts – Chipboard Shapes (Oblong/Arrow/Rockets/Dinosaur)
PDQ – Chipboard Pointy Fingers
Stabilo Black Pen
Making Memories – Tiny Alphas
Ink it Up – Blue Ink Pad
Background Cardstock – Papermania

Saddle Up

This week is the POP GALS turn over at Scrap it with a Song with a song I chose which is:
"Wild Ones" by Flo Rida ft Sia

I didn't want to go with the obvious title (which would have been Wild One) so I after scanning the lyrics many times I decided to go with 'Saddle Up' after remembering I have photographs of my son and I horseriding many years ago.

Here is what I created
The photos were taken in September 2004 on the one and only camping trip we took as a family.
We camped and a site called 'Park Foot' in Ullswater, in the Lake District, UK.  At the top of the site leading to the fells they offered horseriding.  My husband was too 'chicken' to have a go!

My son and I really enjoyed it and it was lovely to be trotting across the fells on horseback despite the fact it was not a particularly nice day in terms of the weather.

I used the following to put the layout together:

My Minds Eye - Quite Contrary - That's My Boy Leafy Tree Tops Paper
Cosmic Shimmer Mist - Green
American Crafts - Foam Shapes- Leaves & Sun
American Crafts Thickers Foam - Giggles - Light Blue
American Crafts Thickers Vinyl - Spirnkles - Orange
Kars Wooden Shapes - Leaves
Papermania - Kraft Labels
Tim Holtz - Distress Ink - Tea Dye
Cuttlebug Folder - Dots
Hessian/Canvas Ribbon
Acrylic Paint - Brown
Staples
Whispers Pen - Brown

Scrap it with Song - My Little Hero

It's the 'Pops Gals' turn over at Scrap it with a Song this week with David Bowie's Song - Heroes......

............and this is the layout I created using the lyrics as inspiration.
Every day I spend with my grandson Jacob is special, every day I spend with him brings me joy and he truly holds they key to my heart.

When I took these pictures I was thinking of a fun layout about playing at the park, but when I knew I was taking part in this challenge I knew they portrayed (to me) a side of my grandson who has a zest for life, adventure & fun.

I used for this layout:

MME Life Stories Paper - Frequency Grid
Bo Bunny - Chipboard Swirl and frame (around photograph)
Tim Holtz Grungeboard Key and Hinges
K&Co Handmade - Alphas, Flowers and Bird Cage and Bird
PDQ Chipshapes - Rad - Heart
Cuttlebug Folder - Houndstooth
Cosmic Shimmer - Candy Pink/Golden Fish (used on key)
                              - Meadow Lush (Frame around letters)
Basic Grey - Brown Brads
Authentique - Petite Type Square - Peach

I enjoyed putting this layout together (as I do with any layout of my grandson) and look forward to many more.

My Wish - Scrap it with a Song

This is the 1st of 4 June challenges over at Scrap it with a Song this month they are featuring songs chosen by the wonderful Design Team members! First up for the month we have Janet's choice, "My Wish" by Rascall Flatts.

Seeing as we have just had the Queens Diamond Jubilee in the UK I thought I would use I red white and blue background paper.  I usually use a sketch when putting a layout together as it saves time but went 'freehand' this timea and I like what I came up with.

I also kept pretty much with a spotty/circles theme to give it some unity.  I was itching to use some stamps I had recently bought from my favourite craft shop - Papercuts Whitley Bay by Andy Skinner/Personal Impressions - which I chose to use on the kraft border using Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick Distress Inkpad.

The words in the journaling circle show what I wish for my gorgeous grandson Jacob during his life.

I used the following products:

Free paper from Simply homemade (clouds)
Sissix Framelits - Kites
Pentel - Metallic Brush - Blue
Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Worn Lipstick & Faded Jeans
Stabilo Bionoic Pen - Black
Sassafras Lass - Sweet Treats - Journaling circle, small wide arrow & sun stickers
Personal Impressions - Andy Skinners - Tempting Textures stamps
Glitz Paper - Kismit - Katy Witt (Dots Background)
Glitz Paper - Kismit - Numbers
K & Company - Handmade Serenity Paper - Kraft Frame
Echo Park - Little Boy - A Little Dirt Never Hurts sticker

Love You More

May is Memorial Month over at Scrap it with a Song
It's time for Pop Gals to reveal a new layout - Today's song is 'In my Life' by The Beatles
This is what I came up with!

I decided to use the lyrics 'Love You More' from the song as my title for layout.

Although my husband didn't think this was a very good photo, I loved it and thought it showed the closeness between my husband and grandson.  I think it is also nice to have photos that are not always taken from the front.

With the paper being very patterned at the bottom I wanted to keep the embellishment above the pattern fairly simple so it didn'd ditract from the photo too much.

I cut the sun and clouds from another sheet of paper and used foam squares (pop dots) to raise it up to give it a bit of height.  The rest of the embellishments I used were left out from previous projects so I decided to use some of them rather then putting them away.

Below are close ups of some of the little details.

I used the following:

Fancy Pants Paper - Daily Grind - Break Time
Fancy Pants Paper - Title Strips - A Taste of Summer
American Craft - Yellow Felt Corners
American Craft - Thickers - Letterman - Red
Sakura Glaze Pen - Black
Felt Circles - Brand Unknown
Bazzill Basics - Half the Edge - Pheonix
Doodlebug Designs - Spotted Scallop Border Sticker
Maya Road - Felt Flower
Tim Holtz - Adage Tickets
Tim Holtz - Journaling Tickers
Making Memories - Washer - Discover
Paperclip - Orange Triange - Brand Unknown

Birthday Card

Birthday card for daughter in law

I made this card for my daughter in laws birthday.  With the exception of the bling which is by Hobby House purchased from Papercuts - Whitley Bay, it was all put together using the The Overstuffed Card Making Kit which I got from QVC.

My daughter in law loves purple so I made sure there was some on the card or at least a touch of lilac!

I don't really make many cards as I prefer scrapbooking, but this was a quick and easy make as all the elements matched up with it being a kit.

Hope you like it.

Feeling Groovy

It's time for a new challenge over at Scrap it with a Song.

This weeks song is from Simon and Garfunkel - 59th Bridge Street Song (Feeling Groovy)

Last year I had a absolutley brilliant time on Ladies Day at Newcastle Racecourse with 3 good friends.  We were lucky enough to enjoy amazing weather on the day and everyone was dressed up and having fun.  When I saw the challenge come up for the design team I knew exactly which photograph I was going to use.

I recently got some Graphic 45 Papers from Papercuts - Whitley Bay, and knew they would be ideal for this layout.  I really like how I used the paper (of course I am biased!)

I also used a sketch from Creative Scrappers  #203 to help put this layout together, check out their sketches by clicking on the link.

I put the layout together the layout using the following items:

Graphic 45 Paper Stack - Tropical Travelogue
Sassafras Lass Paper - Starters - Intro
Buttons
American Crafts Thickers in:  Jewelery Box - Silver Metallic (Feeling)
                                                  Rainboots - Black (Groovy)
Giggles -  White (@) coloured blue with distress ink

Glitz Design Teeny Alphas - Bubble Gum Pink
Pink Paislee - Junque - House of 3 Paper
Hobby House - Border Flourish & Key Embellishment
Papermania Cardstock
Tim Holtz - Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick & Faded Jeans
Sugarloaf Whispers Stokes Pen - Black
Paper flowers
Craftwork Cards - Card Candy
Photo anchors/brads
Paperchase - Butterfly
Lace Border

I hope you enjoyed my layout.

Cutie

I am currently working my way through all the layouts I put together before I started blogging and trying to get them on my blog.  So here I go with this one.

This layout is of my son aged about 1 year old at Benton Park in Newcastle.  I wanted the layout to be 'cutsey' and fun so decided to use Bam Pop paper.  Their papers stand out from the rest and I love them so much I find it hard to use them.

On the photo below you can see the title card pulls out to reveal a journaling.

I used the following products for this layout:

Papermania alphas
Bam Pop papers
Range Liquid Pears - Light Blue
Microbeads - Pink
Bazill Basics shaped paper
Transparnacy - unknown brand
Bling - unknown brand
K and Co Paper

Hope you like it.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

High Cup Nick - Colour Stories Inspiration/Page Maps

I used an old sketch from Page Maps that I had printed out and used before.

I also used the following inspiration from Colour Stories Inspiration

I am steadily trying to scrap photographs that are not of my grandson or son.  They are fantastic subjects of course but I just seem to find myself doing another 'boy layout'.

I enjoyed doing this layout as I challenged myself to use more pink than I generally would even on 'girl' layouts.

I used:

Sassafras Lass - Hog Heaven - Fun Filled Forest - Paper and Border
Sassafras Lass Paper – Secretly Smitten – Dainty Sketch
Ink it Up - Ink Pad - Brown
Brown Card
Journaling Stamp - Brand Unknown
Stabilo Black Rollerbal Pen
Do Crafts - Boofle - 5 x 7 Urban stamps
