My Little Buddy

I was kindly given this fab paper from a scrapper I admire (and whose work I was admiring at the time when she used this paper) Natalie @ Scrapbook Challenges

To put this layout together I used Bo Bunny - Hip Hip Hooray Primary Number Paper which I dry brushed with blue acrylic paint around the edges.

I then painted a oblong of white paint just above the middle left of the patterned paper and stamped some uneven dotted lines on this once it was dry. Around the edge of this box I added a border of Liquid Pearl in mint green. I also stamped a newt in green ink and added glossy accents before it was dry to give it a mottled effect.

I embossed some red mulberry paper using a pebble pattern fiskars plate and placed the photo of my gorgeous grandson on the top of this, to which I added a border of red Liquid Pearls.

After this I added some butterflies with gems, a big arrow, a paint splodge and buttons.

I wanted my title to stand out so I used a old webbing belt as a background and used white Thickers letters. I dry brushed letters with red & blue paint then used a permanent ProMarker in bright yellow to fill in the gaps.

I love this layout as it is bright and fun.

Thanks for looking

On the Catwalk

The photo was taken while we (my son, my hubby and myself )were on our first holiday abroad together. We went to Lanzarote and stayed at the resort of Los Pocillos.

We went out for the day to the capital of Arrecife and we looking around the many shops. We went into a leather shop amongst some other people and they put on a little fashion show. They asked my son and another child to model for them so they could show off their childrens leather clothes. So I have a lovely memory of Jason (my son) walking up the catwalk and smiling and enjoying all of the attention. I am glad I have scrapped it at last.

1. I started off by using the negative from a 12 x 12 card of some chipboard peices I had bought and used Cosmic Shimmer sprays to give a postive image. I can let you know which colours if you need to know.

2. I then adhered a block of embossed cardstock which I had rubbed over with red and blue chalks. (Craftybitz – Embossed cardstock – Paisley PD018.

3. I had earlier blanked out the rest of the photograph with red acrylic paint and when this was dry I stamped stars on top of it in black permanent ink. I adhered the photograph on top of the embossed cardstock and then I cut strips from Collage Press’s 12×12 sheet called ‘ Crafting Strips’ in Knave and adhered them underneath and the the right of the photograph.

4. I cut some circles from the Sassafras Lass – Sweet Marmalade paper and inked the edges and placed these ‘curve down’ above the photograph.

5. I attched the ribbon to the layout underneath the rest of it about 2 inhces. I overlapped the ribbon and stapled down the middle to give a pleasing ‘bunched up’ effect. (make of ribbon unknown)

6. I added epoxy shapes (boy primary) by Making Memories to the bottom right of the photograph, and to the top right & bottom right of the layout.

7. I finally attached the title using Thickers – Rainboots -in black and drew around some of the bigger shapes that I had misted on the layout with a black fineliner. I will be using these to journal in, although I hadnt got around to that when I had taken the photograph.

A day without scrapping is like a day without sunshine!

Meall an-t-Suidhe/Ben Nevis

This photo was taken at Corpach which is were the Caledonian Canal starts.

Behind Paul is 'Meall an t-Suidhe' with 'Ben Nevis' disappearing into the clouds behind it.

Paul is actually standing on a bridge which is on top of the loch gates.

Paul and I have been here a few times on our own as well as with his parents. You always seem to get a nice view.

Cow

This breed of cow did not look at all impressed to see us and went straight back to munching its grass!!

Lighthouse

Youth Hostel

This is a lovely looking youth hostel which is somewhere in between Glasgow and Fort William.

Another train, another train station.

Another train, another train station. After 3 trains, 7+ hours of travelling I lost count of how many stations we might have passed!

So far so good!

This could be school as well as a train station!

Off to Fort William today. My hubby and I are walking to Inverness along the Caledonian Canal. Made it to Glasgow station on time. This is my hubby dashing for the train! The other photo is of Edinburgh station. I will keep you posted as we go along.

Little Podder Layout - Creative Scrappers Sketch 117

This is another layout about my grandson. The layout is about when we used a Camping Pod to stay in for a weekend.

If you are interested to know what they are all about then click on this link: Camping Pods

I used sketch 117 from CreativeScrappers as inspiration (see left) and I love this sketch as it was a little different to other ones I have used as it used a few little photos.

For this layout I used paper fromSassafras Lass, a postcard from Beau Modes and an old thin brown paper bag, Tim Holtz mask - Borderline, Cosmic Shimmer mica spray, clear stamp - stitches and I used AC Thickers - Cream Soda alphas to draw around so I could create these fab letters that co-ordinate.

I sanded the edges of my photos and for the journaling I used photo paper which I had used to pick up the mica spray which is left over after you spray and stamped on this using a Banana Frog journaling stamp.

I love how bright and colourful this layout turned out and I hope others like it too! Thanks for looking!

Mr Cool Layout - Scrapbook Challenges Sketch 217

This is the sketch from Scrapbook Challenges - #217 and below is my take on it.

For this layout I used:

Cream 12 x 12 base cardstock
Four different sheets of cardstock from MME - Laundry Line range
Journalling sheet - unknown
Ink - Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Brushed Corduroy & Faded Denim
KI Memories lace cardstock

The title is actually an ATC I got as a swap and I have used it with permission from Purple Hat over at the Trimcraft website. Thanks Purple Hat.
I also used two clear stamps, but I cannot remember the make.

I really enjoyed taking part in this challenge and the sketch was ideal for this photograph of my husband.

Would love your feedback. Thanks

Lynn

Happy Birthday card for my brother

This is the card I have made for my brothers birthday. I love this stamp it is so cute. The stamp is by docrafts Papermania - it is part of the Nostalgia range by John Byars and there is about 5 or 6 in the range.

I stamped the image using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Brushed Corduroy and used a little water and a brush to bring in some of the colour from the edges.

The base card is a A5 white card which came in a pack of 10 by Anitas. The patterned paper is by My Minds Eye and is part of the Laundry Line range.

I title and strips were stamped with an Anita's stamp that has 'happy birthday' all over it. For the darker happy birthday sentiment I used a free clear stamp that came with one of the craft mags I get.

Anyway, I hope you like it, I would love some feedback so please leave some comments.

Project 365 - Day 3 - Tomato Sauce Twirl

I took this photo in McDonalds today. I liked the way it kept it 'twirl' shape and how the light caught it.

We then proceeded to dip our fries into it!!

1st Birthday card for my Grandson

This is the 1st birthday card I have made for my grandson.

Although I have set up this blog for my scrapbooking efforts there will be from time cards I have made for close family friends.

I occasionally make mini books, so they will make an appearnce from time to time as well.

Anyway to put this together using a piece of 12x12 bazzill dotted swiss cardstock, elements from a Hot of the Press birthday kit and glitter Thickers. A simple card but nice and colourful and effective I think.

Together Layout

This layout is put together using a Brenda Pinnick kit I bought via QVC. I have used quite a bit of it and still have loads left so it was definitely a bargain.

The photo was taken in Dumfries Scotland on a beautiful sunny day .

Grandson layout - One of many to come!!!

This is my gorgeous grandosn. I put this layout together using a kit I bought through Folksy. My favourite part of it (beside my grandson of course) is the printed doiley, I love the little mushrooms on it.

Project 365 - Day 2 - Big Water Nature Reserve

Todays photo was taken a Big Waters Nature Reserve - OS Grid ref: NZ227734

Big Waters is one of the largest subsidence ponds in South East Northumberland. Surrounded by fen and carr the land around the lake is generally flat, rising to the Northeast. Big Waters covers an area of almost 50 hectares, which includes the lake, stream, ponds, marshland, grassland and woodland. There are facilities for walking, picnicking, fishing, bird watching and nature studies.

We took my grandson there in the childcarrier for a bit of fresh air and to feed the ducks and swans. We tooks soom sandwiches and crisps, etc for a bit of a feed ourselves then had a bit of a walk. I have never been to this reserve before but I am glad I did as I enjoyed it.

Look out for my older photos for Project 365 here!

Bye for now and happy snapping

Little Goalie

This layout is of my son aged 8 in his Newcastle United goalie strip.

For this layout I was trying to use items I wouldn't normally use on a scrapbook page, such as stripy electricians tape a sticking plaster, stamps and bits off trophies.

I put the layout together using Sketch 120 (shown below) over at Creative Scrappers:

I also used Glimmer Mist - Slate
Green Base paper - Papermania
Patterned paper - Sassafras Lass - Amplify Ziggy
Large Alphas - American Crafts - Flirty BL
Small Alphas - don't know brand, from a friend
Dictionary page - free with ATCs sent by Anji Clements (alteredscraps) over at Swapbot.com
Star Chipboard negative, from a pack - I sanded away the orginal colour and sprayed it with the Slate Glimmer Mist.

Hope you like it.

Just signed up for mobile blogging and had to give it a go immediately!

I took this picture today of someones handiwork! Nice huh!

Isn't she Lovely

This is a layout I put together using sketch 215 from Scrapbook Challenges. See below.

I used bits and pieces from various kits that I got from Gauche Alchemy.

I was trying for an eclectic messy sort of look with this one as I normally put together more ordered layouts.

I also used a prompt from the 'Scrap it with a Song' site. The prompt this week was using the lyrics from song 'Isn't she Lovely by Stevie Wonder.'

Would love to know what you think.

Hair-raising

This is a layout about myself (for a change) and the flat top haircut I decided to have (somewhat unwisely) when I was about 17 years old. Unfortunatly the quality of the photograph isnt very good, but I still wanted to scrap it.

I think the photograph was taken on Tynemouth Longsands but I am not 100% sure.

I used sketch 110 from Creative Scrappers which was my main inspiration.

I used:

Bazzill Basics in two different colours (sorry I don’t know which)

Patterned Paper by Kaisercraft – Sweets – Raspberry Cream & Creme Caramel

2 paper strips from Simply Cards and Papercrafts – Free Kit – The Never Not Collection.

A journalling block from a free paper pad from Cardmaking and Papercraft – MME – Quite Contrary.

Chipboard flowers.

Thickers in Rainboots – Colour Powder.

Kaisercraft Rhinestones – Amber coloured.

Liquid Pearls in Mint Green.

Ooh, I nearly forgot – I Cosmic Shimmers on the chipboard flowers after embossing each of them with different pattern using my Cuttlebug.

I had fun scrapping this photograph as it brought back memories long forgotten. I was going out with this lovely guy at the time and he had a ‘flat top’ haircut and I remember thinking ‘I should have my hair like that’. Well I don’t really think it was the best style for me.

Hope you like it.

Lynn

Feel better soon card

I made this quick Feel Better Soon card today for someone I work with who also happens to be the wife of someone my husband works with!
