Don't Let Go

Don't Let Go

This is a bit of a mix up for me as I've not really tried mixed media before.  I didn't really intend to do mixed media it just 'sort of' happened.  I ended up glueing my paper onto some scrap cardboard as until then it did not have the 'structural integrity' to hold up to the sewing and whatnot.

I've had lots of fun playing around with bits and pieces and slapping on paint and mist.  I just sort of went with the flow and saw what happened.  Let me know what you think!

I put the layout together with the help of Colour Stories Inspiration challenge #143 (below)
Scrap it with a Song Pop challenge - Demi Lovato's - Let it Go
I used the title of the song to inspire my title of Don't Let Go
Colour Scheme: All colours used
Evidence: Mixed Media, Pen Work, Cogs and Circles.
Testimony: Handwrite your story

I didn't use the sketch ahove - instead I used the one below from Show Us Your Stuff as inspiration. I rotated the sketch 90 degrees.

Here is a close up
and another
and another
and just one more!
Hope you had fun viewing my layout.

Ain't it Fun

 Ain't it Fun

I hope everyone has had a easy week and will have a nice relaxing weekend.  I brighted up my week by creating this colourful layout with the help of Colour Stories Inspiration #142 and Scrap it with a Song - Rock Challenge song - Ain't it Fun.

Colour scheme - All colours used
Evidence: Arrows, Stars & Circles
Testimony: Insp word - Team

I had great fun scapping this layout and reliving the memories from this photograph.
The photo is of my son and his 3 friends playing in a neighbours back garden. The four of them were 'as thick as thieves' growing up and playing together and used to get up to all sorts of mischief.
I love using masks and decided to use two on this layout and spongue ink through them. I also used something called 'Wordle' which creates 'word cloud' using the words you type in.

For the title I decided to include the little letters on the big letter of the word fun.

I plugged the holes of most of the buttons with liquid pearls in contrasting colours.

The multicoloured 'masked' bricks reflect the bricks in the photograph and the masked circles represent the sunshine they were playing in on the day.

Used - http://www.wordle.net/ to create the ‘word cloud’

BOO!

BOO!

Scrapbook layout put together with inspiration from Challenge 141 from Color Stories Inspiration and Sketchabilities.

This photo was taken at Alton Towers on the Haunted House ride in 1995.  I just recently rediscovered it and had a good laugh at my face.  At the point the photo was taken a huge spider dropped down from the ceiling which is why I look so scared, strangly my husband looks quite amused!

Journalling Reads: 14th Sept 1995 - We got tickets for Alton Towers, so with Jason at school we headed off to have lots fun on all of the rides.

We hopped into the 'Haunted House' car and set off through the house. The main thing I remember was the absolutely 'HUGE' spider that dropped down from the ceiling (which is when this photo was taken) hence the very scared look on my face and the amused look on my husband Pauls face. Such a fun day.

 This is the colour challenge I used

I used all the colours in the scheme
For the evidence I used: Cogs/Gears, Lots of Layers, Something Unexpected (postcard)

Testimony: Tuck your story between layers

I also used this fantastic sketch
124 from Sketchabilities

I used white tulle to give the illusion of spider web which I tore and stretched and I decided to use cardboard which I cut into letters for the title and then 'spooked them up' a bit by adding green and orange liquid pearls.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

Love - You and Me

I'm on a Roll
I've managed to combine 8 challenges for this layout!!
~see challange list and details below~

First of all - this is what I created
After getting the layout 'more or less' how I wanted it I decided it was too 'clean'.   So I smudged some pale blue and pink Stickles glitter around the two photographs to mess it up a bit.

This is the 1st time I have managed to scrap a photo of our wedding.  I've always struggled on where to start so I am quite pleased hwo this turned out.  With a brother, son and grandson I am so used to doing 'boy' layouts, so it was fun to do such a girly layout.
I used a the September sketch from Stuck Sketches

Remaining Challenges

Scrap around the world: September Mood Board
I took inspiration from the wings, pink and metal and used them on my layout.

Colour Stories Inspiration - Case File: 138
Colour Scheme - All colours used
Evidence – Woodgrain/Damask/button/Paint
Testimony – Tuck your story into an envelope

Song Title/Lyrics Challenge – Imagine Dragons – On top of the World
    inspired by lyrics: love somebody and title ‘on top of the world’ which is how you feel on your wedding day.

Scrap it Girl – Use Stencils or Mask - I used a TCW – Mini Wood Grain Stencil on scrap white paper with shimmer mist.

Paper Wings – Use Ribbon Twine or Trim – Used bakers twine on journaling tag, l on love and wrapped around woodgrain heart.

Challenge YOUrself  - You must be included in your layout - the photograph used is of husband and myself on our wedding day.  The link to fall is that my husband and I got married on September 7th (we've just had our 18th wedding anniversary) so this is a favourite time of your for me.  Also we tend to visit the west coast or the islands of Scotland around this time of year which holds many happy memories for me!

ARTastic Challenge Blog – Use string or twine on your work

Thanks also to Scrap Challenge who provided a list of most of the challenges I have used on this occasion.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog.

Once Upon a Sketch - Sketch Challenge (see sketch below)

This is what I created
 I had a lot of fun using embossing powders on this layout, which is something I should do more often.  I used an owl image from Squiqqlefly to signify learning and the stars represent how fantastic my grandson is and and how much he has learnt in the last year. (he is such a star!)

The used the sequins as they remind me of how 'sparkly' my grandson is each and every time I see him.

Hebs 2014

Enjoying another challenge

This is what I created

This photo is from our trip to the Outer Hebrides - We were just pulling up at Scuribhal Campsite when I looked out of the window when I saw our cyles (which were attached to the roof) casting shadows but with this lovely view in the background.  I could resist taking a quick snap.

I really enjoyed making this layout and it just sort of evolved as it went along as apposed to me know what I am going to do ahead of time.
---

Colour Stories Inspiration case file that I used
Evidence: Text Print, Floral Pattern, Butterflies, Leaves, Wet Medium (Moulding Paste), Wings.

Testimony: Document a solitary pleasure

Scheme: All colours used
----

Show us your Stuff prompt I used
 The shapes I needed to include on my layout were - a square, a rectangle, bunting, a circle, a banner, a splash of paint or ink and of course, a handmade item. (It's not as hard as it may sound!) Each one of these items must be used at least once, and must be clearly visible.

Square = Photogrpah
Rectangle = Seaside and Wayside
Bunting = Hebs (title)
Circle = centre of butterfly
Banner = Scuribhal (subtitle)
Paint = used on butterflies and flower detail in bottom left corner
Handmade item = cut flower shape from tissue used to blot stencil

The layout shows a photo of myself and my family on holiday in Faliraki, Greece.  We are enjoying a Fishbowl cocktail which is essentially a big cocktail in a bowl which you share with straws.

(I am late in completing this challenge but I still wantedto  do it as I love the colours)
